Medical volunteers and supplies are needed! You can help.

Posted Dec 12 2007

LCMS World Relief and Human Care Mercy Medical Teams traveled to Kenya and Guatemala October 2007 to treat hundreds of impoverished individuals. The teams of doctors, nurses and other volunteers made medical assessments, dispensed free medications and addressed basic medical needs. You can help bring these vital services to communities throughout the world that do not have consistent access to medical care.

LCMS World Relief and Human Care will soon release locations and dates for 2008 Medical Mercy Team opportunities. Besides Kenya and Guatemala, staff members are exploring opportunities to serve in Peru and Indonesia.

LCMS World Relief and Human Care also sends medical supplies overseas. In a partnership with Orphan Grain Train, a container of supplies worth over $200,000 was shipped to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sudan to help furnish a hospital in Jubu. A second container with more than $17,000 of medical and other goods was shipped to Kenya in February for a new clinic in Kisumu, expected to break ground this summer.
